Why should I raise money for the Boys & Girls Club of Souhegan Valley? The Boys & Girls Club of Souhegan Valley family – a community of staff, volunteers, parents, youth and supporters – work together to create a positive place, full of hope and opportunity, for every child, regardless of ability to pay. Our objective is to tap each kid’s unique potential, with a few guiding principles for all – be responsible, be honest, be respectful, be a team player, be accountable for your actions. We encourage kids to try new things, learn new skills, develop positive relationships, and make good choices.
-
With over 500 members aged 6-18, we welcome over 140 kids each day after school.
-
34% of our members live in single parent households, one in four live in households earning less than $40,000/year (based on 09-10 membership data).
-
We offer a sliding fee scale for families based on family size and income for our after school programs, and needs based scholarships for summer camp and other programs.
-
Requests for needs-based scholarships have increased over 340% this year!
How will the money be used? To support programs and services for those kids whose families are struggling and cannot afford to pay.
$1,000 will help send a kid to camp for the summer.
$675 will subsidize afterschool programs for one child for a year.
$375 will provide one year’s transportation from Wilton or Amherst for one child.
$125 will provide one week of school vacation camp for one child.
None of our successes would be possible without the strong support of caring individuals, organizations and partners who believe in our mission. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for enabling us and our Club to help kids BE GREAT!
