SEARCH:
We provide after school programs, before school programs, vacation camps, snow day programs, summer day camps, and other recreational opportunities to kids in grades 1-12. We also provide early education programs for kids aged 3-5.
 
Each day when kids arrive at our Club they are offered age-appropriate activities in the arts, health and lifestyle skills programming, recreational opportunities, theater arts, and more! Our core programs engage young people in activities with adults, peers, and family members that enable them to develop self-esteem, helping them to grow and reach their full potential - helping them to BE GREAT!
 
No matter what program you child is involved with, he or she will enjoy activities in our five core program areas:

Health & Life Skills
These programs develop young children's capacity to engage in positive behaviors that nurture their own well being, set personal goals, and live successfully as self-sufficient adults.
  • SMART MOVES (all ages) is a comprehensive prevention program in which members develop important decision making, peer pressure resistence, and self-awareness skills.
  • SMART GIRLS (ages 8-14) provides an opportunity to develop healthy attitudes and lifestyles through small group activities.
  • PASSPORT TO MANHOOD (ages 11-14) promotes and teaches responsibility and reinforces positive behavior in male Club members. Sessions concentrate on specific aspects of manhood through highly interactive activities to teach members about personal growth.
Character & Leadership Development
Programs in this core area empower youth to support and influence their Club and community, sustain meaninful relationships with others, develop a positive self-image, participate in the democratic process, and respect their own and other's cultural identities.
  • KEYSTONE CLUB (ages 14-18) a premier youth leadership and service program. Members become more productive citizens and leaders by planning and implementing various community-focused activities.
  • TORCH CLUB (ages 10-13) a chartered small group leadership and service club. Members learn to elect officers and work togther to implement activities in four areas: service to the Club and community, education, health and fitness, and social recreation.
  • NORM ADAMS YOUTH OF THE YEAR (ages 14-18) is the Boys & Girls Club of Souhegan Valley's premier youth recognition program for Club members. All members can benefit from participation in this program which promotes and celebrates service to the Club, Community and family; academic performance; moral character; life goals; and poise/public speaking ability. The Norm Adams Youth of the Year receives a $500 Scholarship from the James G. D’Amato Scholarship Fund.

Education & Career Development

Programs in the core area allow youth to beome proficient in basic educational disciplines, apply learning to everyday situations, and embrace technology.
  • POWER HOUR (ages 6-12) provides homework help and tutoring to members in a safe, quiet place with the aid of professional staff and volunteers. POWER HOUR is sponsored by CIRTRONICS CORPORATION
  • PROJECT LEARN (all ages) reinforces and enhances the skills and knowledge learned at school during the hours the youth spend at the Club, and rewards Club members for positive academic participaton. Through Project Learn, Club staff use all areas and programs in the Club to create opportunities for high-yield learning activities which include reading, writing, discussions with knowledgeable adults, mentoring, homework help/tutoring, and developing cognitive skills.
  • NETSMARTZ (all ages) is an interactive educational safety resource that teaches kids and teens how to stay safer on the internet. Combines the newest technologies and the most current information to create high-impact educational activities that are well received by even the most tech-savvy kids.
  • CLUB NEWSPAPER allows kids to share their ideas and stories with each other. Club members learn how to research, report and write news articles.
Sports, Fitness & Recreation
Programs that develop strength, positive use of leisure time, skills for stress management, teamwork, competition, appreciation for the environment, and social skills.
  • FITNESS AUTHORITY (all ages) promotes fitness in all youth through fun, engaging weekly activities and an annual competition at local, regional, and national levels. Club members try out new games and take part in activities that help them learn about sports, culture, history, self-esteem, nutrition, and physical fitness.
Cultural Arts
These programs enable youth to develop their creativity and cultural awareness through knowledge and appreciation of the visual arts, crafts, performing arts, and creative writing.
  • IMAGEMAKERS (all ages) encourages Club memers to explore their creativity through digital photography. Member work is showcases in an annual exposition, as well as promoted to the community during fund raisers.
  • RIVERBEND YOUTH COMPANY (all ages) provides training, guidance, and enrichment to youth, producing theater at a professional level for community audiences. Theater productions are performed at the Amato Center for the Performing Arts.
